Day 1

After your luxury coach pick up at Dublin airport, greeted and welcomed by Judith, we drive south towards County Wexford and the old port city of New Ross, where we tour the impressive Dunbrody Famine Ship.

New Ross was the embarkation point for many early Irish immigrants leaving for America, including the ancestors of John F. Kennedy, who famously returned here in 1963. Dunbrody, with its impressive restored sailing ship from the 1840’s, is an immersive experience that wonderfully tells the story of Irish immigration to America.

From Dunbrody, we will then make our way toward Kilkenny and the superb Mount Juliet Estate, our first resort in Ireland with it’s beautiful grounds and 18th century manor house. Relax before dinner and take in the surroundings – welcome to Ireland!

Day 2

After our Irish breakfast at Mount Juliet, we depart for the ancient Viking City of Waterford where we will tour the famed Waterford Crystal Factory with all of its skilled artisans and have a chance to shop for these wonderful Irish creations in their beautiful factory showroom.

After enjoying Waterford, we will then drive back towards the medieval City of Kilkenny. In times gone by Kilkenny was the capital of old Ireland and today is a jewel of an city with its narrow streets and colorful shop fronts.

Once there, we will tour the superb Kilkenny Castle, built in 1185 and the historic seat of the Butler family. The castle is a pristine example of Medieval history which we will explore and enjoy, after which we will walk to the impressive Kilkenny Design Center where we can enjoy coffee and spend time shopping their extensive array of beautiful Irish crafts. Then end the day by driving the short distance back to the Mount Juliet Estate with plenty of time to relax in the peaceful Irish country setting before dinner together in their award winning restaurant.

Day 3

This morning we leave Mount Juliet and drive west towards the Rock of Cashel in County Tipperary. The Rock of Cashel was the seat of Ireland’s high kings & today is an impressive sight, a ‘must do’ when in Ireland as it rises above the Irish midlands on a high rock above the town of Cashel.

From Cashel, we then continue towards the City of Limerick, where we will enjoy lunch and a photo op at King John’s Castle. The Castle is an impressive early medieval fortress on the edge of busy Limerick. After lunch, we will then continue our journey south towards County Kerry to Killarney and our next overnight stop & dinner at the Killarney Royal Hotel, an historic landmark in the scenic Irish resort town of Killarney.

 

Day 4

After enjoying breakfast at the Killarney Royal Hotel, we board our coach this morning to discover the famed Dingle Peninsula, the most westerly and southern part of Ireland.

Perhaps one of the most beautiful and rugged peninsulas in the world, Dingle is a breath-taking drive through mountains and headlands that plunge into the wild Atlantic, the scenery of which was the backdrop to the latest Star Wars movie, all filmed in Dingle close to the village of Ballyferriter. On our journey through Dingle we will stop at the many historical and beautiful sights that mark the route such Dunquin Harbor, looking out the Blasket Islands, and The Gallus Oratory , a thousand year old church made with dry stone and still fully intact, even after a millennium.

End the day back at Killarney in time to enjoy dinner together at the Killarney Royal Hotel after a day of spectacular scenery.

Day 5

This morning after relaxing breakfast, we will drive east from Kerry towards Cork City and the one and only Blarney Castle. Take time to kiss the Blarney Stone or just enjoy the beautiful grounds in the parkland setting.

Or, if kissing the stone is not your thing, enjoy incredible shopping at the Blarney Woolen Mills complex next door with its multiple floors and shops filled with the most wonderful Irish crafts and products. A treasure trove to be sure!

From Blarney we make our way into Cork City where, after a driving tour of Cork, we will stop and tour two of Cork’s landmarks, St. Fin Barres Cathedral and the famed English Market with all of its quirky stalls and stores. Pick up some gifts, or munch on some local delicacies before we arrive at our next luxury resort, the stunning CastleMartyr Resort, a country house resort, where we can relax and unwind before our gourmet dinner together.

 

Day 6

Today, we leave Cork City and drive south toward the scenic town of Kinsale with its quaint harbor and brightly colored shop fronts. Enjoy some free time in the town, wandering the streets and enjoying the sights and sounds of this picture postcard Irish harbor town.

After which, we will drive east to Midleton and the impressive Jamesons Irish Whiskey Distillery. At Jamesons, we will tour the famed distillery and taste some of the world class Irish whiskeys distilled here and enjoyed throughout the world, before continuing our journey to Ballymaloe House for dinner together.

Ballymaloe House and Cooking school is a world class foodie destination with its historic period house and working farm where we will enjoy a gourmet dining experience courtesy of the Allen family before returning to relax in the peaceful parkland setting of the Castlemartyr Resort.

 

Day 7

Today we rise early to board our coach once more to drive north toward Dublin City, the capital of Ireland. On the way to Dublin we will stop halfway to visit the famed Irish pottery of Nicholas Mosse, whose distinctive pottery is celebrated throughout the world.

Enjoy coffee or a snack in the café at Nicholas Mosse before we continue our journey to Dublin City.

In Dublin we will enjoy a driving tour of our Irish capital, passing famous land marks including Trinity College home of the Book of Kells, Dublin Castle, O’Connell Street and much more. Admire the architecture and soak in the history of this interesting and ancient Irish capital as we spend some time there to get to experience all that is Dublin. Ending the day with a wonderful meal experience at the superb Fallon & Byrne Restaurant in the center of the city – a famed Dublin foodie experience! After which, we will retire our final hotel, the Carlton Hotel at Dublin Airport.

Day 8

The location of the Carlton Hotel at Dublin Airport makes our morning transfer to the terminal easy as prepare to say goodbye to Ireland, filled with memories to last a lifetime!
